Developing web-based research-into-practice guidance for EAL teaching

Dr Naomi Flynn

The aim of this project was for an academic to work collaboratively with Local Authority expert EAL teachers and school teachers in order to create a web-based guide for EAL that would support busy practitioners wanting guidance for EAL learners of all levels of fluency. Working together as a researcher-practitioner team had its complexities but the writing and publication of the MESHGuide for EAL was an experience that allowed for collective responsibility of the guide’s content. It is planned that future development of this guide will include a user group who feedback to the authors in order that the content is kept current, teacher-friendly and research-informed.
